Variants

The Hawker Typhoon is a British single-seat fighter-bomber.

It was intended to be a medium-high altitude interceptor, as a replacement for the Hawker Hurricane, this was not to be due to several design problems that were encountered and these problems couldn’t be completely ironed out.

Typhoon IA – 12 machine guns: 4 built by Hawker, 105 built by Gloster

Typhoon IB – 4 20 mm Cannon: 11 by Hawker, 3,195 by Gloster

Typhoon NF.IB – Night fighter conversion of one aircraft R7881

Typhoon FR.IB – Reconnaissance conversion of approximately 60 aircraft.

Total built – 3,317,  two prototypes and 15 produced by Hawker, 3,300 produced by Gloster.
