In 1951, the Czechoslovak firm Avia secured a license to make Il-10s, with the designation B-33.

The first one flew on 26 December 1951.
Initially, their engines were Soviet-built. From 1952 onwards the engines were also produced in Czechoslovakia as the M-42.

Besides the combat variant, a Czechoslovak trainer variant also entered service under the designation CB-33.
In total, 1,200 B-33s were built by 1956.
