The Caproni Vizzola C22 Ventura was an Italian-developed light jet-powered aircraft designed for military training purposes.
It featured a traditional sailplane configuration and shared similarities with the Caproni Calif gliders, but with a predominantly metal structure.
The aircraft accommodated both the student and instructor side by side under a spacious canopy, with weapons hardpoints located under each of the slender, high-mounted wings.
Additionally, it was equipped with a retractable tricycle undercarriage.
Agusta purchased 50% of the C22 program in 1981 and introduced a new variant, the C22R, designed to serve as a reconnaissance aircraft with capabilities for forward air control and ELINT operations.
Despite showcasing the basic C22J trainer at the Farnborough Air Show in 1980 and September 1982, it did not garner any interest from potential buyers.
As a result, the planned C22R model never came to fruition.
