Caproni Ca.405 Procellaria

In 1938, Caproni was ordered a special version of the aircraft for the ”Istres – Damascus – Paris” race.

It was a modification of the Piaggio P.32bis bomber with a long range for setting records and a narrow fuselage, it was called Caproni-Reggaine Ca.405 Procellaria.

A contract was signed for the construction of two aircraft.

Both were scrapped during conversion to light bombers, this was due to Italy’s entry into World War II.
