The Arado S I, a biplane trainer manufactured in Germany in 1925, had three prototypes.
The initial prototype was equipped with a Bristol Lucifer radial engine, whereas the remaining two Arado S.Ia planes were powered by the Siemens-Halske Sh 12.
The Arado S III, which was almost identical, was powered by the Siemens-Halske Sh 11.
Only one prototype of the Arado S III was built and sold to Turkey.
